this ones a miter ten carters board
trying to build for around 150$
everything from carters or mitre ten
1 pound eps
any suggestions for the glassing schedual
im thinking 3 by 6 bottom
same on top with patches
or should i go for 4 by  6 deck

this shit is pretty floppy but its not to bad looking board cosidering the its a surform shaped bit of floppy insul foam
wee low spot in the tail
and the rocker in the nose has problems
maybe next time il taper the bottom sheet first
so theres always a gluue line holding the shape
ill just put a weight on it when glass the bottom to get it back

welcome to our world paul!

we get away with double 4 sometimes 2 under and 4 over if you give it wood
4+4 deck and 4 bottom with a 1/16" skin is plenty strong paired with some of them bollocks rails

For a strong board, you have to seal the blank.  I've done them with that <1lb foam and triple 6 deck, double 6 bottom.  Unsealed - mushy; sealed - absolutely fine.

Mine did have stringers.  On the other hand... they were 10' long  Wink

Very light.  Totally viable personal / team type construction.  Fine for giveaways.  I probably wouldn't sell them any more than I'd sell someone a bookcase I made out of balsawood.

Aloha Paul
ditto on what Ben just said
except you might want to check out using warp glass (it isn't much more expensive then E and cheaper than S) staggering full rail wraps to create some artificial parabollocks with just glass.

aside from all this think of some Stretch rail channels to beef things up a tad

that's just about all you can do without putting on a wood or pvc skin

another idea is to reverse your shaping philosophy and go thick and heavily domed deck.
We all know now its more the shape and glassing pattern than the specific materials that affects the stiffness of the end product.

sorry
I'm no industry pro
but that's the kind of things I would be considering

My brother did a 1lb 10' with a 1/2" redwood stringer in the same glassing schedule Ben said and buckled it tandeming with his 13 year old daughter in solid 3-4 hawaiian at diamondhead. Must have been the day glo pink and yellow future's acrylic paint mix we decided to seal it with..
too thick I think...
There's a picture of him(Sharkcountry) and his daughter with it somewhere on sways..
