ok Paul, are you gunna let us know the specifics? what foam did you use? doesnt look like the 'normal' stuff you say its got 2 x 6 oz on the rails. what effect did that have on the flex? is the weight still less than a poopee of same dims?
cheers, scot

hey scot its airex foam and balsa bottom it flexes fine with all the glass, fill and gloss the glass is fully lapped its not light but not heavy either but its very very strong id rather(and im sure most surfers that destroy boards would agree) similar weight with better strength
now a lot you guys are going single 3 and 4 oz cuz the board is still really strong snapwize but it will still ding piece of piss and dings are a fuck load of trouble with wood and eps now if you in the custom board market and have time and are getting the money i recomend putting extra glass on the nose and tail as well miles has about 24 oz of glass wrapped over the nose and tail so he can drop the thing on rocks, nose dive into shingle etc etc
basically if you getting barrels (like standup/low crouch full cover ups) you will be getting injured and the boards will be getting trashed its just the nature of the conditions shallow, rocky and heavy lips and body parts all contribute to dings
a single 3oz or 4oz board would last about 5 minutes with me or miles surfing it proabably even less with ben surfing it miles will go on anything deep, late, reef rocks whatever he goes hard up to 3OH
if your selling or intend to sell its important to 1.improve piercing ding resistance 2.the seal, waterproofness 3.cosmetically no brainer dingrepair for any repair shop

thanks Paul, i think that has definately tipped me towards the airex. i priced it from atl @ about $70 per sheet for the C70. thats probably double what balsa would be. i am an absolute monkey both in and out of the water with regards to dings. my boards look like a disaster zone pretty quick. i surf snapper mostly and with all the rest of the gold coast out there trying to catch the same wave I usually get a bump or two most surfs. i would take durability over lighter weight but lighter weight would be a bonus.
my glass schedule is going to be 4oz inside and 4oz bottom , 2x 4oz deck with 2.5 mm balsa bottom and 5mm airex c70 deck. rails are 3 x 4mm balsa. i am open to suggestions tho as i only have the balsa for the bottom so far and still a while of getting actually started on it.
thanks for all the tips. scot

scot single 5 or 6 oz all over will do 2 oz under with nose fin and 4 oz deck patches(under skin) where hands knee and big toe dig holes everythin else sounds good a good coat of thinned epoxy on the balsa wouldnt go astray and lap your deck glass back over to the bottom about an inchor two in 3mm airex is fine at 80kg i used 5 cuz thats all i could get in that density

okay hunty ride report not the fastest not the loosest and most certainly the heaviest but the board fits me like glove its like and extension of body and i have had sick barrels made latest drops and landed some really nice floaters in overhead surf and its got enough volume to mix it with the longboarders id say its my best and i cant wait for some decent fins

when you say its the heavyest paul, what sort of weight are you talking?3.5-4 kg??and do you attribute the weight to the 60kg/m3 hd foam?
