Hi Guys

I have made one compsand so far it was a bit rough and ready. I did not vent it I use it as a kite surfbaord here in the UK.  I am working on 2 new compsands to take home with me to South Africa, there the boards will be exposed to hot tempratures.

My questions are:
-what is the minimum size of the vent(hole diameter)
-does the vent have to be above the front foot or can it be in the tail.
-how deep does the vent go.

keep well
Grant

Hi there,
I'd recommend the Goretex vents if you can get ahold of them.
PeteC on Swaylocks sells them from the online shop there, or the Grrenlight vent/leash plug combo's look like business!
They will both ship internationally, and should be cheap for such small items.

If you are going to use a manual screw type, like if you make your own, then theres not really too critical specifications, other than it really shouldn't leak!!

The hole size is fine if it is more than a couple of millimeters diameter, there is not actually that much air to be vented, and would only be an issue if you suddenly expose the board to extreme heat somehow. Otherwise, a small hole will provide plenty of air flow.
The hole simply has to be down to exposed EPS foam.
The vent can be anywhere on the board, I simply put it above the front foot as there is already the leash plug at the tail.
The Greenlight combo plugs look like the best solution, i'll be using those next myself.

Show us photos of the boards! maybe a build thread or something.
Dimensions?
Surf they will be ridden in back in South Africa? (one of the top of my list for a surf trip....)
Photos of your first compsand?

Bring it on!

How are those vented leash plugs? dont require any screwing etc how does that work?

I noticed on berts website he says his new boards have a checkvalve/plug that doesnt require any adjusting and it automatically works
