Hey Guys!

After having build two boards with a pretty wide planshape intended for rather small waves, mmy next board's going to be a shortboard for waves 4ft and over. As I am rather tall at 193cm I thougt about something around 6'6". I played around ins aps3000 and made a template that looks quite nice. I would appreciate if you could have a look and tell me what you think about it.

Please ignore the rails and the bottom contour. I wanted to give it pretty knifey rails and thougt about a single concave throughout the whole board.
Thanks and best Regards,
Sebastian

I like the tail, looks really nice!
Thats a lot of volume, at 39 litres. It should easily float someone your size, although I don't know how much you weigh of course.
It depends on your surfing style, waves etc, but it is something that I would ride.
You could drop the width a bit if you wanted - it seems quite wide at the nose also, a lot more volume forward of centre. This may be something you want, I just thought i'd mention that is something that stood out to me.
But i'm definitely not a shapes expert, these are just my gut feelings!

Thanks Kit!

My weight is around 85kg and I' d describe me as rather fit. My problem is, that I don't surf that much. So I thougt a little more volume forward would help me paddling. I wouldn't describe me as a good surfer. I'm able to do some moderate turns and a cutback once and a while but there's nothing radical going on. Especially not on my backhand! I mostly surf beachs or points that aren't too hollow. So I want a board to feel confident on when it gets OH. Perhaps I should add, that the board 's supposed to be a standard thruster.
Anyone some more thougts?
Cheers,
Sebastian

i'm 1.85m tall (just over 6 foot) and 85kg, and I ride 6'2 x 19 x 2 1/2 or thereabouts usually.
I like volume around 30 - 33 litres, but I can definitely feel it when I haven't surfed for a while. I went out on saturday, haven't been in the water for over a month as I cut my finger badly. I was dead in the water!
I'm not really the best person to be giving this kind of advice on board design, but I was interested so I replied  Smiley
Hopefully Huie can give some thoughts on what you should be riding?

I thougt a little more volume forward would help me paddling.
There is a school of thought that volume aft is more important than volume forward when paddling into waves. A bouyant tail tipping the board down the wave face, whereas a bouyant nose would prevent the nose dropping down the wave.
My jury is still out on this tho'.
