  Hello,

Has anyone tried this material yet?  I have no commercial ties with this company, just posting it in case someone is interested.  I have been looking at what materials are available today on the market for surfboards.  I found the video below that shows a pickup drive over a surfboard LENGTH wise over the bottom of the board, with no apparent damage to the board.  The material is cheaper than most high performance materials, and may be worth looking into.  They claim it is 15-30% lighter than glass, and is cheaper than S-glass.

http://www.innegrity.com/surfboard/index.htm

"The surfboard was made with eps foam, 1 layer of Innegra™ and 1 layer of 4oz fiberglass, laminated with epoxy resin.   We were very surprised how well the Innegra board took the driving over. We thought the best case would be the glass would hold up but the foam would compress. To our amazement there was no compression dents!”

Just saw on sways that Huie is trying it, so i'll wait for the results.
Sounds like cool stuff, although claims are claims, until they are proven!

Hello Kit,

Thanks for the reply.  I posted on sway's also, got a few responses.  Sounds promissing, but perhaps a challanging material to use.

Best regards,
Montie

Beautiful Huie....
I have a feeling that we'll be seeing a lot more of this stuff around.
Although, as you say, that little bit extra hassle might put a lot of the production guys off?
Lets see what happens when you put it under vacuum!

Wow, sounds great!   I'm thinking a 1lb core with innegra/veneer/4oz shell.  That might be the tits!

Where do you buy this stuff? direct from the manufacturer?

hi , it sounds like this innegra stuff is good , reading on sways it sounds like mike daniel tried it a few years ago but he is allways tight lipped about things like that,
there is diolene out there which the canoe guys use to keep the hulls flexable rather than rigid and crack if all glass is used, this material might be worth a try as well ,
at the top of the list it just seems to me that spectra/dyneema has all the properties that is needed , i feel sure this is what coil use , bright white , a lower specific gravity than water and one of the toughest cloths out there,
its just all the time and effort trying it all out , pete

       jarrod
i am not sure if the stuff i am using here in oz is the same as what is going on in the states
but this is  a high modulas polypropolene in a plain weave.
by far the best i have used in polypropolene
it is being aimed specific at the surfboard industry here in oz
but the industry stalwartes will prbly kow kow it?
but it has high value for people like yourself''     you will find good things to do with it no doubt''

peteuk
i doubt mike daniels has used the same cloth that i have if he has the n he is prbly throwing a curve ball
i am not there yet  but just need a bit more time on my hands &i will be
innfusion with this material well thats about as far as i want to go?

So i've heard back from Colan Australia, and they are pointing the NZ representative in my direction.
Hopefully will receive a call from them tomorrow. Apparently they have samples at least, not sure if they have full stock yet.
So, more info coming soon hopefully....

Report -

There's no stock in NZ at the moment, but there will be sometime soon. Now that people are starting to ask for it.
They've only heard about it in the last month or so.
No pricing info yet sorry.
