A new one:

I try 0,6 veneer of local mi-hard wood instead of balsa for my wood deck board:

6'7 x 22 1/8" x 2 3/4" Egg board 1.9# EPS core.

First lam bottom with 2x4oz tint resin

then cut with scissors and bag wood skin with 4oz inside

then clean wood (easy because thin)

then lam with 4oz.

3,66kg  feel more strong under thumb pressure but flexier spring than my balsa.
I hope less problems with water absorption.

Nice board Lemat

I'm just finishing my third bamboo veneer board. They go well and are easier to work with than balsa. Need several more month to check durability but so far so good.

I make some veneer test panel before and comparison with balsa was very positive. For near same weight,  veneer panels seems to be stronger (more resilience) and less stiff. So i can more warp wood on rails, i think it's better for flex response and durability.

Wood i use is heavier than bamboo, less stiff, more resilient, less cost because local source. It's use for handle of hammer and other tools and before for tennis racket.

Now i have to find combination with fiber's schedule to achieve best (for me)  flex/durability/weight ratio.

Sounds like what I've been using- hickory.  They used to make skis out of them.  Strong and springy.

You have a quick build style Mat, awesome stuff.
2300grams, crikey that is lightweight.
Wish i could get mine coming out light.
Wish i could get my butt into gear and get a few more boards finished!!

Hey Matt with the 1.9#eps do you need to seal the foam with this build and what are you using on the rails?  Are you using a rocker table?  Cheers

I just seal rails and bottom with spackle or microballon+epoxy. I don't use rocker table because first i strat bottom  and warp rails so it's strong enough and i can bag top without rocker table. Fast and easy. On those ones i don't put anything more on rails. I make some with XPS, really good because no link of water when ding but more complicate to do. For next i'll try to put fiber on rails for improve ding resistance  and a bit less  flex. My timberflex style with this wood  is flexier than my balsa deck boards. Keep on searching...

Sory for my franglish !
