Hey gang,

here's a coupla pics of me on a recent trip, riding a compsand made in my back shed.
Forgive the kookiness, backhand is not my strongest point.

Good to see your boards being ridden, Sparrow. It's what they were meant for.
Nothing kooky about your style (says a kneeboarder). Looks like a lovely lineup too.

Hope you don't mind me adding a couple more to your thread sparrow. Seemed to make more sense than starting another thread:

6'2" kneelo and some waves being ridden:

This board ending up getting 2 extra layers of 4 oz on the deck. The deck had a bit of a 'softness' problem, probably due to epoxy trouble, but also even though the overall thickness was - 3/8" it still felt 'too buoyant' on rail. Paddling it felt similar to a pupe. In slightly bumpy conditions it felt like the rail was being floated out of the water. Now with the extra weight it feels better.

The way buoyancy is distributed so differently in a compsand is taking a while to get figured. Not sure i like the idea of super super thin rails as i value rail shape, but perhaps its necessary?

Cheers mate, No problems, anyone is welcome to post more pics here

Looking good, the board and the waves! Looks like a great standup fun board for me.

The last couple of boards i have made, have had thin rails and they have seemed a bit twitchy to ride, and have taken a little bit of getting used to.
I think I'll head back to a slightly fuller rail.

just finished. This is #5 compsand - averaged 1  a month since january!
...and the first one anyone paid me for (my wife insisted i charge or else, so we made 30 dollars for the million or so hours work they still take me  Wink)

This is my favourite kneeboard rocker - which we discovered worked really well as a standup board on fatter days - but without the nose flip.

Also first board that I've tried to do a spray, so managed to cover up that 'orrible green dcell on the rails. thanks peter for loaning me your spray stuff! Anyone else spraying after hotcoat got a really durable formula for paint? Can't see this lasting long. I used the sways, acrylic latex/future/elmers glue mix.

Back when i was making skimboards, a guy wanted to do his own artwork, so i let him as long as he used water based acyrlic, he painted directly on to the klegecell over the whole surface and it has held up with no delam so far, his board is prob 8 years old now and still going strong, i saw it yesterday.

Alternatively - i think klegecell (19mm thick H80) used to come in brown, which kinda looks like wood, although i think they may have changed it to pink. Unless my supplier used to have dcell and switched to kcell. But somewhere along the line it changed. But you still may be able to get the brown? Maybe check with your supplier which colours they have and which density is which?
