Posted this on Sways but thought you guys might find this interesting as well...

Started out with some 2mm paulownia

Used 0.75# construction grade eps - cheap and nasty - with high density fin inserts courtesy of Paul, and xps rails...

Split the deck skin under vacuum...the Paulownia is a bit stiffer than balsa.

Finished board is 6' x 12.75" x 19.5" x 15" by 2" thick. And comes in about 2.6kg without fins.

Had a couple of sessions on it. First in small high tide waves - went ok. Next in overhead high tide waves - went really well.

very cool . now try it out on this south swell from hell. 4 ft and offshore all next week in the forecast
