Another 5'10" x 20 1/2" x 1 7/8"

Will (pictured) surfed in fun shoulder high slightly onshore lefts with a bit of juice. Went well, but the board language still told me it's slightly over buoyant. I went for strength over light-weight on this one. It has a 2mm balsa bottom, 4mm balsa top, 4oz under all skins, double 4oz deck, single 4oz bottom. How thin do you need to go to get them feeling 'neutral'?!

The flex feels really good with this schedule and 60kg d-cell rails. I think it would be way to stiff with wood in the rail.

And here's another kneeboard I made for myself after almost a year of making boards for other people!

Paul, i just discovered that all my theories about thickness and too much buoyancy were bs. This one came out waay over thickness especially in nose and tail with fairly full rails (first experiment with a cnc machine) ... and its the best rider yet. A little stiff perhaps. Took it to panaitan for 4 days last week and never had a moment where i felt it was going to do something nasty.

Now i don't know what to do on the next one!!

Tom

Hey huie, not doing bad, though recovering from a bout of typhoid... price you pay in the tropics  Grin

What've you been up to recently? Haven't seen any pics for a while...

Got a few boards on the go at the moment but decided I'm not going to shape at home anymore. Only got a tiny house with attached single garage and the eps beads were getting everywhere. Not good with a 2 year old around. Hate shaping the 1# eps anyway. It's almost a joke trying to do anything with accuracy. So I'm getting pete to shape the cores on aku and finishing the skins and turning rails at home.

Finish with PE over epoxy has been great. No problems whatsoever and don't know what all the fuss is about. Thanks for your tips on that.
All the best
