Hi John, glad you started down this path.  Always good to get a few more builders who like the lines of the bigger boards.  How much of that block of foam do you still have?   Grin

Hi Benny -

Thanks!  I have a couple of blanks cut out but the block is about gone.  The paddleboard required that I slice and glue sections from two blanks to get the width I was after.   I'm working on a couple of boards built "the other way" but can't wait to vacuum another balsa skinned composite.

Hey all,
Im a novice when it comes to this stuff, never made a board but I am going to in about two weeks.  Just order a blank, some epoxy and have located bamboo veneer for purchase.  Im super stoked, cant wait for this round of finals (school is a drag) to clear up so I can go get my hands dirty.  I'll let you all know how it goes, will post some pics if I can get my hands on a camera.  Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge!

Hello-
My name's Mike, AKA Sofa over on Sways.
I have a compsand fish underway over  there:
http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=362182;search_string=first%20compsand;guest=17520769#362182
Several members on the Compsand board have already given me some helpful advice over there - as the thread will confirm, I'm a newb as far as building boards goes.
I was going to join up over here after I had a pic of a finished board to post, but read the Admin's post today and thought that it's time to quit my lurkin'.

The fish is taking a while, since I've made the process more complicated  than it needed to be, and I've been making some test pieces along the way. I'm a firm believer in Keep It Simple Stupid when at work, but wanted to try out a few different techniques and materials on this board.  If I end up making some big howling mistakes this way, at least they'll all be on the same board Smiley
Should have the fish finished by the end of the month,
then it's time to start planning a shape for a longboard ...

New to the board here.  Thought I say hello.  I just posted a few picture of my number #1.  Now that I've had a few days to clean up the garage (made and absolute mess of it) I'm ready to get it dirty again with #2.  Thinking about doing a 6' fish for the summer mush.  I'll probably have some questions for you guys soon Wink

Cheers,

Point.

Hi guys, just joined today. I'm an Irish shaper making hollow cedar boards. I'm interested in adding some composite boards to my range. I'm building hollows using a perimeter stringer and ribs with no centre stringer. Basically using wooden ribs instead of the foam.

Great site, good info!
