Hi There,

Woody here migrating over from sways.

Getting ready to jump on the compsand band wagon.

Think I understand enough now to get under way just need to source/stock pile some affordable materials before I get going, must remain patient while looking for a pump, if can't find an affordable one on ebay will start unting for fridges.

Not sure how many brits are on here, but any "local" knowledge of good/reliable UK suppliers would be much appreciated.

Hello all.  New member here.  Built two SUPs (hollow wood) for may wife and I.  Now I am addicted!  Very interested in Compsand method and would like to try it on a SUP build.

Hey folks, Groggy2 here (2groggy on Grainsurf and a bunch of other places).

My real name is Greg Dow and I'm from Toronto, Canada.  I'm planning on taking up windsurfing again after about a 10 year hiatus and want to build a couple of boards - one family fun board for the kids and a performance board for me.  As a test, I built a 4 ft HWS body board with Jensenish rails, but fine it too heavy.  So I'm searching for better.  Let's see if I've found it.

Prepare yourselves for a flurry of newbish questions and opinions.

hello, here's about me...

my name is Louis, LOuis also on sway.
been shaping for 16 years, doing some compsand since Bert's infamous post on sway but i did some eps epoxy and was on the r&d team with AST polyurethane resin (short live) flexible and very strong resin but impossible to make it look pretty. would be very good for the inside or board that are painted. nobody talk about urethane in surfboards but they are so good.

i did lots of work with Bob tinkler (rip) on compsand flex tail. Other than that my shaping experience came from shaping at the UWl factory in France where they do lots of american brands like T&C, Sharp Eyes, Malcolm brothers,Addiction and a bunch more. i was shaping for a long time before i worked there but its at that factory that my shaping level got way up from shaping so many boards. When you shape over 5 boards a day, you get good fast... and all those different brand have lots of models. best way to learn.

Before that,  i had my label ( www.addictionsurfboards.com ) in Canada and was building every board from start to finish,
now i am back in canada again where i do all my boards from start to finish and i love it like that.
i was always in the quest for a stronger and better board for the environment.

I also love CnC machine, i am obsess with them, i love what you can do on them, i found that its not only good for production shaping but for backyard too. i am working on a cnc project right now and i am pretty excited about whats coming. i want to make a machine that will be very efficient and affordable for smaller factory or backyard.
once you go digital its hard to comeback, not because its faster,  because its not when you use as a custom tool but because it is so precise, organized and the possibility to duplicate to perfection.
with digital its like youre a surfboard gynecologist, you get to know every knock and cranny of the inside core and i think its cool.

other than that i restore old vw bug, vespa scooter and skil 100 planers. if someone as problem with their skil send it over and ill restore for you!

here is a fish we did with hemp fiber, epoxy, biofoam. not compsand but different!
cheers!
cheers!
