Anyone ever used a serious hard wood like mahogany for nose blocks?

I've used NZ Rimu

Not quite as hard as mahogany, but pretty hard.
Theres no reason not to use it - other than possible ethical dilemmas
I have some mahogany left over from an electric guitar i'm slowly building, it may find it's way into a surfboard at some stage

Just be aware that darker woods show up any dry weave, so make sure the cloth is wet out properly

I used some mahogany for a logo inlay and the dust was very fine and hard to clean off the balsa.

I used some Koa one time.   What a pain in the ass that was.
