cheers for the replys guys, Roy Stewart has put me onto
http://www.productive-trees.co.nz/catalogue.html in one of the nz websites so looks like it should be sorted.
Cool idea with planting a tree for your child, I actually had the very same thought cross my mind since we're trying to get knocked up right now. I didn't think about the placenta thing (kind of icky) but I have heard of that being done.
yeah apparently the placenta is reasonably good food to get a tree started, i kinda like the idea that the thing that is feeding my baby can be used to help feed a tree or three, once my baby no longer needs it.much better than just throwing it in the rubbish imo.
How young are you planning on starting your kid surfing? Should have a millable tree in only like 5 years. After ten years, it might be 80 feet tall!
probably as young as possible, hopefully we will be able to have a water birth(not that a water birth will make him a surfer, but i like to think that a water birth will help him be comfortable with water).also you can take babys to swimming lessons here so i will be doing that, i think the key is teaching them to be able to swim as young as possible and getting them comfortable in the water first.
Your quote at the bottom of your posts is humbling as well as profound,,, thanks for the reality check...
cheers kiterider, my grandmother has had a picture on her wall with this quote ever since i can remember, and for some reason it sticks in my mind, but it is good for helping me remember how much good things i have if im ever feeling down.
